Notice of Annual General Meeting

The Sunnyhills School PTA will be holding its AGM on Wednesday 2nd March 2016 at 7.00pm, followed by wine and cheese and then their regular meeting.

The AGM is open to all parents & in accordance with the PTA Constitution we are required to elect officers of the PTA Committee for the coming year at the AGM.

The Constitution allows members to hold these positions for a maximum of two consecutive years and the current officers have already completed two years in their roles.  We are looking for nominations for all 4 officers positions:

Chairman

Vice Chairman

Treasurer

Secretary

If you would like to make a nomination for someone to stand for any of these positions please email your nomination to pta@sunnyhills.school.nz by 4pm Wednesday 24th February 2016.

Family Picnic & Class Orientation

Second Hand Uniform Monthly Sale

2nd Hand Uniforms

The Sunnyhills School PTA will be having a 2nd hand uniform sale once a month.

BUYERS

If you are wanting to purchase 2nd hand uniforms you will be able to come along to the school hall on the following dates and make your purchases.

SELLERS

If you are wanting the PTA to sell any  “NEW STYLE” Sunnyhills uniforms on your

behalf, you are welcome to  bring these along at the same time to drop-off.  

Uniforms that are to be sold must be washed and in saleable condition, no rips, tears etc.  These items need to also be labelled with your details.  The labels can be found at the bottom of our uniform page on the Sunnyhills School website:  http://www.sunnyhills.school.nz/uniforms

New Families Morning Tea

INVITATION

To All New Families at Sunnyhills School

All new families to Sunnyhills School are invited to morning tea on

Friday 19th February 2016

from 9a.m.-10a.m. in the school staffroom.

Morning tea will be provided by the P.T.A.

It will be a great opportunity to meet other new parents and our principal Mrs Driver.

Members of the P.T.A. will be available to answer any questions you may have.

For catering purposes can you please RSVP at the Office by Tuesday 16th February if you are able to attend.

PTA Family Picnic Evening

The PTA Family Picnic evening is always a wonderful event, it is a great opportunity for you to relax at school while having a picnic, mixing and mingling with other families, and of course meeting all of our amazing teachers.   

Thursday 11th February

5.30pm to 7.45pm

  

Please bring coins for sausage sizzle, food and drinks or your own picnic and picnic blanket.

Classroom orientations start at 6.00pm - Senior School classes at 6pm, followed by Junior School at 6.30pm and finally Middle School at 7pm. 

An email notice has been sent out with all the information or you can check out the PTA noticeboards.

Thank you to Heller's for supplying the sausages and Kelly Sports for assisting with games on the evening.

Welcome

The PTA would like to welcome all families to Sunnyhills School.  We hope you all had a wonderful break over the summer and are looking forward to 2016. 

Senior Courtyard Upgrade - Stage 1

The PTA are proud and excited to be supporting the Senior Courtyard upgrade with work on Stage 1 starting over the holidays...

  

In 2016 the PTA aim is to raise $60,000 to go go towards Stage 2 this will enable the courtyard to be covered for an all year round learning hub for our students.  

We have a number of fundraisers planned for 2016, so make sure you look out for these.

The first PTA meeting is tomorrow night 3rd February at 7.30pm in the school staff room - All welcome

Our first PTA event to kick off the year is the Family Picnic and meet the teacher on February 11th - more information to follow.

SUNNYHILLS SCHOOL PTA 2015 Chairperson’s newsletter

2015 has been a fantastic year for the Sunnyhills PTA and on behalf of the PTA I would like to thank our wonderful school community; dedicated teachers, staff and Board of Trustees, parents and students! 

 I would also like to thank the fabulous members of our PTA for all their hard work and efforts this year.  Because of these generous and active parents there is a strong PTA presence within our school.  This amazing group of parents volunteer their time to provide fun events for our children and our community.  These events include Disco nights, sausage sizzles, Mother’s Day Table, the very popular Father’s Day Breakfast and in 2015 we held our first ever family movie night. 

I’m really proud to say that your Sunnyhills School PTA is donating $70,000 to support the Board with stage 1 of the upgrade of the senior courtyard.  Next year we will be fundraising for stage 2 of the upgrade, covering the courtyard so it will be a year round learning space. As well as our usual fundraisers in 2016 we are also looking at holding a Golf day, fun run and an on line auction

I would like to acknowledge long standing PTA members Laura Beattie, Lorraine Lees and Nicky Adams.  It is their last year with children here and these wonderful ladies have given a huge amount of time and energy into supporting Sunnyhills School.  It has been a pleasure and a privilege working with you all.

On behalf of the PTA, I would especially like to thank Juliet for making Sunnyhills an amazing school experience for our kids in her time as principal.  Thank you for all your tremendous support and encouragement.  While Juliet has been principal the PTA has supported numerous projects throughout the school such as our fantastic garden trail, performing art suite, ICT equipment and, more recently, the edible garden initiative and kicking off the upgrade to the senior courtyard.   Juliet you are an inspiration to us all and will be sorely missed - we wish you all the very best at St Kentigerns girls school and in the years to come.
